ESPN Pigskin Pick 'Em

It's that time of year again...football season!  For the past few years, my co-workers and I form a group and play ESPN's Pigskin Pick 'Em.  Sometimes we play for money, sometimes we play for pride. This year, we are playing for money. Woohoo!  Based on past performance, Pigskin Pick 'Em is perfect for me -- all I need to do is predict the winner of each NFL game (with point spread) on a weekly basis -- no knowledge of football is needed and this seems to work to my advantage.

Going into Monday I was in the lead by 2 points which would normally be enough. But with two Monday night games, my victory was at stake. I thought my chance to win was over when I checked the scores and saw the Jets had lost and the Chiefs were on their way to a win. Imagine my surprise when this morning I received the results from Week 1 (taken from an email from our group's Commissioner, also the author of This Blog Is My Constant):

Week 1 Winner: Gennessey

Gennessey stormed out to a fast start and didn't look back as she took week 1 with 10 correct out of 16. Although she got zero correct on Monday, she was able to predict one of the bigger upsets as the Seahawks beat the 49ers (as did most of the Seattle-ites), while also picking the Vikings to cover the Saints spread. These picks helped her just beat out 4 other people who got 9.

Wish me luck as I try to beat out the rest of the gang in the upcoming weeks!
